In September 2015, 193 members states of the United Nations adopted a set of 17 Goals as part of a “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The Goals and targets will stimulate action over the coming 15 years to end poverty, achieve equality and protect our planet from climate change.
All country leaders are resolved to free the world from the tyranny of poverty and hunger; to fight inequalities within and among countries; to build peaceful, just and inclusive societies; and to protect human rights and gender equality, while protecting and ensuring the lasting of natural resources. They also agreed to create conditions for sustainable economic growth that share prosperity and decent work to all, taking into account different levels of national development and capacities.
The Agenda took into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development. It is accepted by all the countries and is applicable to all. The goals and targets are universal. They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economics, social and environmental.
